For those of you who are in the film business, you will know that the last shot of the day is called the “Martini Shot,” because you can imagine what follows. For as long as I’ve been working on films, television and commercial sets, we’ve always longed to hear the words “It’s the Martini.” There was a famous AD who would say that it was the last, shot and then it wasn’t. It was the 2nd to the last shot, so that “2nd to the last shot” forever bears his name. I would wager that everyone of you, who has ever been on a set, have heard his name, but like me, never met him. Nevertheless, from now on, when we get to the “Abby Singer Shot” we can know that this man, who passed away yesterday and probably never knew how many lives he became a part of, has now gone to have his Martini.
