Tom Herod Awards

Good Apple Award Dinner Video–Harry Reasoner,” received Videographer Award of Distinction.

Precision Camera & Video,” a series of local television commercials produced for under $5000 received a Communicator Award.

MTC: Create your future here!,” a recruitment and orientation film for Materials Transportation Company was Finalist at the 23rd Telly Awards and received Award of Distinction in two categories at the Videographer Awards and Creative Excellence at US Int. Film and Video Festival.  Awarded Best Video by the company’s national association, and was chosen by the national ESOP association to educate members of the US Congress about the benefits of “employee stock ownership plan” companies.

Partners in Education,” the Public Service Announcement for Temple College and Temple ISD in Temple Texas, won a Gold Addy Award.

Sunbelt Transformer: Powering Industry,” a sales film for Sunbelt Transformer, won Silver Addy.

It’s Coming & It’s Here,” a series of 15 second TV commercials for Metroplex Health Systems in Killeen, Texas received a Silver Addy (Editor only).

WilsonArt Trade Show,” a sales meeting video, for WilsonArt International in Temple, Texas won a Silver Addy for Elements of Advertising (for the animation in the piece).

People Make the Difference,” a film about spirit of the city of Temple, Texas received an Award of Distinction from the Communicator Awards.

Wavefront: The Movie,” a corporate sales film written and directed by Thomas Herod, Jr. for Wavefront Technologies, Inc., received two Special Achievement Awards (for the integration of Live Action and Computer Graphics) and a Silver Cindy Award at the CINDY competition and was a Finalist at The International Film And TV Festival of New York.

Forging Creativity,” with Martin Sheen, a corporate image film written and directed by Thomas Herod, Jr. for MCS, Inc., won a Silver Hugo at the Intercom portion of The Chicago Film Festival and a Bronze Medal at the International Film and TV Festival of New York.

800 Abandoned,” produced for the City of Los Angeles, was nominated for an ACE (Award for Cable Excellence) for local cable programming by the National Cable Association.

Student Film Awards

An Evening at Threadgill’s,” a short documentary about Austin country music legend, Kenneth Threadgill, produced and directed by Thomas Herod, Jr., opened the Texas Country Music Association tribute to the artist and portions will be used in the Turner Television mini-series, “The Roots of Country.”  Restored and debuted at SXSW Film Festival, 2000.

The Give and The Take of It,” a short dramatic film written and directed by Thomas Herod, Jr., (the first dramatic film ever produced as a masters thesis film at the University of Texas at Austin) received an Honorable Mention Award at the Chicago International Film Festival.

Inner Face,” a short dramatic film written and directed by Thomas Herod, Jr. received a Judges Award at The Sinking Creek Film Celebration at Vanderbilt Univ. and was selected for screening at The United States Film Festival.

Southern Hospitality,” a short dramatic film directed by Ted Nicolau and produced by Thomas Herod, Jr. was nominated for a Student Academy Award.

Screenplays

DEAD AND BREAKFAST, a tongue-in-cheek or “post-modern” horror film that was a finalist in the  FADE IN: Magazine Screenwriting Awards and the sequel DEAD AND BREAKFAST, PART II, which was selected as one of the Top 100 (from 4000) in Project Greenlight’s Horror Film Competition.

Theater Review Summary

KENNEDY’S CHILDREN, an Off-Off Broadway revival of the play by Robert Patrick, produced and directed by Thomas Herod, Jr. was selected as “One of the season’s ten best” by “Other Stages,” the monthly Off-Off Broadway newspaper.

“Gram Folds the Laundry” at the Ensemble Studio Theater in Los Angeles—Dramalogue said, “…Herod directs with insight and caring…”

“Evening in Paradise” at the Company of Angels in Los Angeles—Hollywood Reporter said, Herod’s “…direction is sure and strong…”
